Who's Who Update | Ace the Bat Hound
Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe was a 26-issue encyclopedia of hundreds of characters from DC Comics' 50 year publishing history. The first issue was cover dated March 1985. The 11th issue (XI) was the first official comic in my collection, so the series holds a special place in my heart. Hundreds of characters, vehicles, headquarters, and planets are included, but a number of important faces and places were left out. So to rectify the situation, I started creating my own Who's Who entries.
Ace the Bat Hound was one character left out of the series. He first appeared in Batman #92, cover dated June 1955. Superman's dog Krypto was given his own Who's Who entry, but Ace was not. Ace was not appearing in Batman or Detective Comics at the time. Along with Batwoman, Bat-Girl, and Bat-Mite, the character did not fit the more "serious" tone of the Bat-books at the time. While Batwoman and Bat-Mite did receive entries, Bat-Girl and Ace did not.
We welcome Ace the Bat Hound into the Who's Who family!
