Presidents & Politics | From FDR to BHO

In comic books, sometimes the President of the United States is a fictional character, like Lex Luthor.  Other times, the sitting president is the president in the comic book.

In All-Star Squadron, a comic book from the 1980s that was set in the World War II era, Franklin Delano Roosevelt appeared frequently.

President Reagan was appeared in several DC Comics from the 1980s.  In the Legends mini-series, he issued an Executive Order banning super heroes.  VP George H.W. Bush is seen in the background of this sequence from Legends #6 (Dec. 1986) by John Byrne and Karl Kesel.

He was also seen the following year in a title that spun off from the Legends event, Justice League International #7 (Nov. 1987), with artwork by Kevin Maguire and Al Gordon.

Barack Obama was featured in a five-page back up story in The Amazing Spider-Man #583 with art by Todd Nauck from 2009.

This issue is the only comic book my wife has ever owned.  :)
